The Veteran is a formation used for completing Galaxy Gates and missions due to the huge bonus it grants in honour points.
PvP or Aliens[]
The Veteran Formation is very bad for PvP for obvious reasons. It is great against aliens in certain situations listed above.

Official Description[]
This formation has a special look in the 3D client.
Honour is increased by 20%; however, laser damage, hit points, and shield points are all decreased by 20%.
